Jessica & Jake | Lodge Inspired Wedding
June 24, 2017

This was such an incredible day, with an even better vendor team and couple. The people we get to meet on this adventure of wedding photography truly makes it all worth it. Jessica called us her hype team as we, and the Henry Weddings team, captured their day and all had a blast doing it. They wanted to have their wedding feel like a cozy, romantic lodge – but in the middle of the summer, and Grit + Gold definitely delivered. So you’ve most definitely noticed how unique Jessica’s dress is. This is a dress she had her eye on before she even got engaged and after they were engaged, she called the one bridal salon in Texas that had it and they told her they’d be discontinuing the design the next week because it wasn’t selling. Jessica quickly made an appointment, tried on the dress and knew it was the one – their ONLY bride to EVER try it on and buy it, and it was discontinued right after her appointment so we’re all pretty sure she might’ve been the only Texas bride to ever wear this dress.

I love the way these two laugh with one another and are constantly joking around, but it’s just so clear that they’re perfect for one another. My favorite part of this wedding day was, after their first dances as the sun was setting, we all snuck outside while their guests were eating and drove out to the field in front of the Orchard. It was peak golden hour, with the sun wrapping us all up in it’s warm glow, and some soft music was playing in the background and it kind of felt like time slowed down for those ten minutes. Jessica & Jake had a couple of drinks and were so comfortable in the environment that most of the sunset images you see are 98% candid. They just did their thing, and we captured it, and sometimes stepped in with small adjustments to make it as beautiful as it could be.
